P4-REQ-21-14-010

Developer Handbook traceability SHALL relate handbook rules to implementation concerns and Part 4 requirements.

Part 4, Section 21.14: Implementation Traceability Requirements.

Developer Handbook rules translate Part 4 implementation discipline into practical contributor guidance. Those rules must therefore remain connected to the implementation concerns and normative requirements they support.

This relationship prevents handbook rules from becoming independent architectural requirements or introducing implementation constraints without an identifiable Part 4 basis.

This requirement applies to:

  • file-header rules;
  • generated-file rules;
  • naming and coding rules;
  • logging and exception-handling conventions;
  • traceability conventions;
  • repository workflow;
  • script usage; and
  • review checklist requirements.

Verification SHALL confirm that Developer Handbook rules are traceable to applicable implementation concerns and Part 4 requirements.

Verification activities should include review checks confirming that:

  • handbook rules identify or have identifiable Part 4 bases;
  • implementation concerns supported by handbook rules can be determined;
  • handbook rules do not introduce conflicting architectural requirements; and
  • obsolete or unsupported handbook rules can be detected.

This requirement establishes traceability between practical Developer Handbook rules and their governing Part 4 implementation requirements.
