P4-REQ-21-11-006

The Developer Handbook SHALL define logging conventions.

Part 4, Section 21.11: Developer Handbook Requirements.

Logging conventions establish how Phase 0 implementation artifacts report lifecycle activity, processing outcomes, warnings, degradation, failures, recovery, commands, and communication errors.

Consistent logging supports Health and Observability, Control Plane behavior, Audit and Provenance, troubleshooting, and later evidence planning.

This requirement applies to:

  • implementation node artifacts;
  • supporting modules;
  • scripts;
  • lifecycle and status reporting; and
  • applicable operational and audit-related logging.

Verification SHALL confirm that the Developer Handbook defines Phase 0 logging conventions.

Verification activities should include review checks confirming that:

  • required log fields are defined;
  • participant identity and correlation context are addressed;
  • lifecycle and processing outcomes are addressed;
  • warning, failure, and recovery reporting are addressed; and
  • applicable Runtime Plane context is addressed.

This requirement establishes the logging discipline used to support Phase 0 observation, control, audit, provenance, and later evidence concerns.
