P4-REQ-21-2-005

The Phase 0 Implementation Profile / PSM SHALL distinguish implementation artefacts from logical elements.

Part 4, Section 21.2: Phase 0 Profile Requirements.

Implementation artefacts are selected technical realisations of logical elements. Maintaining a clear distinction between the two prevents implementation mechanisms from becoming architectural definitions.

This distinction allows later implementation profiles to use different technologies or artefacts while preserving the same applicable logical architecture.

This requirement applies to:

  • implementation node modules;
  • DDS Topics;
  • IDL structures and generated types;
  • QoS profiles;
  • configuration artefacts;
  • scripts; and
  • repository artefacts.

Verification SHALL confirm that implementation artefacts are distinguished from the logical elements they realise or support.

Verification activities should include review checks confirming that:

  • implementation artefacts identify their applicable logical source;
  • implementation descriptions use realisation or mapping relationships rather than redefining logical elements;
  • logical definitions remain authoritative in the applicable preceding architectural part; and
  • implementation-specific representations remain identifiable as implementation concerns.

This requirement preserves the distinction between architectural definition and implementation realisation.
