Each repository location SHALL identify the applicable Developer Handbook rules.

Rationale
Repository locations contain artifacts governed by different development, generation, modification, review, and cleanup rules.
Identifying the applicable Developer Handbook rules ensures that contributors know how artifacts in each location must be handled and allows reviewers to apply the correct conformance expectations.

This requirement applies to:

governed source locations;

generated-code locations;

configuration locations;

script locations;
-
documentation locations; and
-
applicable build and non-baseline locations.
Verification
Verification SHALL confirm that each repository location identifies its applicable Developer Handbook rules.
Verification activities should include review checks confirming that:

applicable file-header rules are identifiable;
-
generated-file rules are identifiable where applicable;
-
modification and review rules are identifiable;
-
cleanup or exclusion rules are identified where applicable; and
-
contributors can determine the governing handbook expectations for each location.
