P4-REQ-21-6-008
Statement
Each IDL and generated type mapping SHALL identify the applicable generation rule.
Source
Part 4, Section 21.6: Information Structure Mapping Requirements.
Rationale
A defined generation rule establishes how governed IDL structures produce generated implementation types.
Recording the rule supports reproducibility, protects generated files from uncontrolled manual modification, and allows reviewers to distinguish source changes from generator or configuration changes.
Applies To
This requirement applies to:
-
governed IDL structures;
-
generated types;
-
type-generation scripts or procedures;
-
generator configuration; and
-
generated-file metadata.
Verification
Verification SHALL confirm that each IDL and generated type mapping identifies the applicable generation rule.
Verification activities should include review checks confirming that:
-
the generation mechanism is identified;
-
regeneration procedures are documented;
-
generated outputs can be reproduced from governed sources; and
-
manual-editing rules are consistent with the Developer Handbook.
Traceability
This requirement establishes the generation-process relationship between governed IDL definitions and Phase 0 generated types.
