P2-REQ-16-4-007

The Logical Architecture / PIM SHALL NOT prescribe one communication technology or interaction style.

Part 2, Section 16.4: Logical Communication Requirements.

The purpose of the Logical Communication Model is to define platform-independent communication relationships rather than implementation technologies. Preserving technology independence allows multiple Implementation Profiles to realize the same Logical Communication Model using different communication technologies while maintaining common architectural meaning and interoperability.

This requirement applies to the Logical Communication Model and all technology mappings derived from it.

It applies specifically to:

  • Logical Communication Endpoints;
  • Communication Roles;
  • Implementation Profiles;
  • Deployment Profiles; and
  • Technology mappings.

Verification SHALL confirm that the Logical Communication Model does not prescribe a specific communication technology or interaction style.

Verification activities should include review checks confirming that:

  • no communication technology is mandated;
  • no interaction style is required;
  • Logical Communication Endpoints remain platform independent; and
  • technology selections are deferred to Implementation Profiles.

This requirement supports traceability from the platform-independent Logical Communication Model to multiple technology-specific implementations.
