P2-REQ-16-4-004

A Communication Role SHALL identify how a Logical Node participates in a Logical Communication Endpoint.

Part 2, Section 16.4: Logical Communication Requirements.

Communication Roles describe the manner in which Logical Nodes participate in logical exchanges. Separating participation from the endpoint itself provides a reusable and technology-independent means of modeling communication relationships while supporting multiple interaction patterns and architectural specialisations.

This requirement applies to the Logical Communication Model.

It applies specifically to:

  • Communication Roles;
  • Logical Nodes;
  • Logical Communication Endpoints; and
  • Logical Interaction Patterns.

Verification SHALL confirm that each Communication Role identifies how a Logical Node participates in a Logical Communication Endpoint.

Verification activities should include review checks confirming that:

  • Communication Roles are explicitly associated with Logical Nodes;
  • Communication Roles define participation in Logical Communication Endpoints;
  • participation remains platform independent; and
  • Communication Roles support the Logical Interaction Patterns defined by the architecture.

This requirement supports traceability between Logical Nodes, Communication Roles, Logical Communication Endpoints, and Logical Interaction Patterns.
