P2-REQ-16-4-003

A Logical Communication Endpoint SHALL identify a platform-independent point of information exchange among Logical Nodes.

Part 2, Section 16.4: Logical Communication Requirements.

Logical Communication Endpoints provide the architectural abstraction through which Logical Nodes exchange information. Treating endpoints as platform-independent concepts preserves architectural meaning while allowing different implementation technologies to realize the same logical communication relationships.

This requirement applies to Logical Communication Endpoints throughout the Logical Architecture / PIM.

It applies specifically to:

  • Logical Communication Endpoints;
  • Logical Nodes;
  • Logical interactions; and
  • Communication modeling.

Verification SHALL confirm that every Logical Communication Endpoint identifies a platform-independent point of information exchange among Logical Nodes.

Verification activities should include review checks confirming that:

  • Logical Communication Endpoints are explicitly identified;
  • Logical Communication Endpoints connect Logical Nodes;
  • endpoint definitions remain independent of implementation technologies; and
  • Logical Communication Endpoints support logical interaction modeling.

This requirement supports traceability between Logical Communication Endpoints, participating Logical Nodes, and Logical Interaction Patterns.
