International Organization for Standardization (ISO)

ISO is the International Organization for Standardization. ISO develops and publishes international standards through a membership structure of national standards bodies. In the SIP-RA RFP, ISO is relevant because the RFP uses ISO/IEC terminology for normative keywords, including “SHALL”, “SHALL NOT”, “SHOULD”, “SHOULD NOT”, “MAY”, and “NEED NOT”.

*An independent, non-governmental international organization that develops and publishes international standards through its member national standards bodies.*

ISO brings experts together to agree on international standards for products, services, systems, processes, and other subjects requiring common specifications.

ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2 defines drafting rules for International Standards and provides the terminology used for normative expressions in this RFP.
