5.1.6 Minimalism

Return to Requirements

Minimalism promotes reuse by separating generally applicable functionality and specification elements from the contexts in which they are applied. This separation avoids functional duplication and supports consistent use across multiple architectural contexts.

Requirement Level Statement
GPR-009 — Context-Independent Functional Factoring Mandatory

The Submission SHALL separate functionality reusable across multiple contexts from functionality specific to an individual context.

GPR-010 — Separate Specification of Reusable Elements Mandatory

The Submission SHALL specify reusable Models, Interfaces, and related elements as distinct, independently referenceable specification elements.

The requirement identifiers and short titles link to the authoritative requirement records in Annex C.

The Statements displayed in this section are transcluded from their corresponding Annex C requirement pages and are not independently maintained copies.

Make changes to a Statement or its Requirement Level on its Annex C requirement page.

GPR-009 and GPR-010 are mandatory requirements.

GPR-009 governs the separation of functionality reusable across multiple contexts from functionality specific to an individual context.

GPR-010 governs how reusable elements are represented in the specification. “Separately” means that each reusable element is distinct and independently referenceable. It does not require a separate document or file for every element.
