7.3 IDL as Phase 0 Data Definition Mechanism

Go To Phase 0 Technology Selection and Implementation Context

Phase 0 uses IDL as the selected data definition mechanism for implementation-level information structures.

IDL structures realize selected FX logical information structures by defining implementation-level data representations for DDS exchange and generated type creation. The IDL definition provides the implementation schema used by the Phase 0 communication and generated-type tooling.

IDL does not redefine the FX logical information structure. The FX logical information structure remains the authoritative logical definition. The IDL structure provides the selected Phase 0 representation of that logical structure.

IDL files must preserve traceability to the FX logical information structures they realize.
