P4-REQ-21-13-004

Implementation governance SHALL define implementation compatibility.

Part 4, Section 21.13: Implementation Governance Requirements.

Phase 0 implementation artifacts must work together without loss of logical meaning, communication compatibility, generated-type compatibility, QoS compatibility, traceability, or reviewability.

Defined compatibility rules allow incompatible changes to be detected and reviewed before they enter the implementation baseline.

This requirement applies to:

  • DDS Topic mappings;
  • publishers and subscribers;
  • IDL structures and generated types;
  • QoS profiles;
  • configuration artifacts; and
  • implementation modules.

Verification SHALL confirm that implementation governance defines implementation compatibility.

Verification activities should include review checks confirming that:

  • communication compatibility is addressed;
  • data-representation compatibility is addressed;
  • QoS compatibility is addressed;
  • version relationships are considered; and
  • incompatible artifacts require review before baseline acceptance.

This requirement establishes compatibility controls among related Phase 0 implementation artifacts.
