P2-REQ-16-4-002

Part 2, Section 16.4: Logical Communication Requirements.

Communication Roles define the ways in which Logical Nodes participate in Logical Communication Endpoints. Establishing a standard set of communication roles promotes consistent interaction modeling across Domains while allowing different technologies to realize the same logical relationships.

This requirement applies to the Logical Communication Model.

It applies specifically to:

  • Publisher Roles;
  • Subscriber Roles;
  • Requester Roles;
  • Responder Roles;
  • Command Producer Roles;
  • Command Consumer Roles;
  • Event Producer Roles; and
  • Event Consumer Roles.

Verification SHALL confirm that the Logical Architecture defines each required Communication Role.

Verification activities should include review checks confirming that:

  • each Communication Role is explicitly defined;
  • the roles support platform-independent communication;
  • Logical Nodes participate using Communication Roles; and
  • Domain Logical Profiles preserve these role definitions.

This requirement supports traceability between Logical Communication Endpoints, Communication Roles, and Logical Interaction Patterns.
