P2-REQ-16-5-005
Statement
A Logical Message SHALL represent a Logical Data Structure Instance exchanged through a Logical Communication Endpoint.
Source
Part 2, Section 16.5: Logical Information Requirements.
Rationale
Logical Messages represent the primary means by which Logical Nodes exchange information. Defining a Logical Message as a Logical Data Structure Instance exchanged through a Logical Communication Endpoint preserves a clear separation between information, communication, and implementation technologies.
Applies To
This requirement applies to the Logical Information Model.
It applies specifically to:
-
Logical Messages;
-
Logical Data Structure Instances;
-
Logical Communication Endpoints; and
-
Logical Interaction Patterns.
Verification
Verification SHALL confirm that each Logical Message represents a Logical Data Structure Instance exchanged through a Logical Communication Endpoint.
Verification activities should include review checks confirming that:
-
Logical Messages are represented as Logical Data Structure Instances;
-
Logical Messages are exchanged through Logical Communication Endpoints;
-
Logical Messages remain platform independent; and
-
implementation technologies do not redefine Logical Messages.
Traceability
This requirement supports traceability between Logical Messages, Logical Data Structure Instances, Logical Communication Endpoints, and Logical Interaction Patterns.
