===== Rationale =====

Logical Messages represent the primary means by which Logical Nodes exchange information. Defining a Logical Message as a Logical Data Structure Instance exchanged through a Logical Communication Endpoint preserves a clear separation between information, communication, and implementation technologies.

This requirement applies to the Logical Information Model.

It applies specifically to:

  * Logical Messages;
  * Logical Data Structure Instances;
  * Logical Communication Endpoints; and
  * Logical Interaction Patterns.

===== Verification =====

Verification SHALL confirm that each Logical Message represents a Logical Data Structure Instance exchanged through a Logical Communication Endpoint.

Verification activities should include review checks confirming that:

  * Logical Messages are represented as Logical Data Structure Instances;
  * Logical Messages are exchanged through Logical Communication Endpoints;
  * Logical Messages remain platform independent; and
  * implementation technologies do not redefine Logical Messages.
