STC-001 — Establish Initial Test State

The DIDO-TE SHALL establish the initial state specified by the governing Test Definition before Test Execution begins.

Repeatable testing requires Test Executions to begin from controlled conditions.

The initial state is the condition established before Test Execution begins. It may include the state of the Test Environment, participating Nodes, Twin Realizations, data, Configuration, or other resources when those conditions are specified by the governing Test Definition.

The governing Test Definition determines the conditions that constitute the required initial state. DIDO-TE establishes those conditions before Test Execution begins.

Establishing the initial state is distinct from restoring a previously established state. STC-002 governs restoration of test state for subsequent or repeated Test Executions.

This requirement does not prescribe a snapshot mechanism, storage technology, virtualization technology, provisioning mechanism, or other implementation method used to establish the initial state.

Verification confirms that:

  1. The governing Test Definition specifies the conditions required for the initial state.
  2. The specified initial state is established before Test Execution begins.
  3. Each condition specified as part of the initial state can be verified before Test Execution.
  4. Conditions not specified by the governing Test Definition are not required by this requirement.
  5. The established initial state is traceable to the governing Test Definition.
  6. Establishment of the initial state does not require a particular snapshot, storage, virtualization, or provisioning technology.

Verification includes a Test Definition specifying an initial state and confirms that the required conditions are established before Test Execution begins.

This requirement establishes the starting state required before Test Execution.

STC-002 separately governs restoration of test state for repeated Test Executions. The remaining STC requirements govern the temporal context in which Test Execution occurs.
