18.9 Developer Handbook Traceability

Go To Phase 0 Implementation Traceability Model

Developer Handbook traceability relates handbook rules to the Phase 0 implementation concerns they govern.

A Developer Handbook trace must identify:

  1. Handbook rule or section
  2. Implementation concern governed by the rule
  3. Artifact categories affected
  4. Part 4 requirement or convention supported
  5. Review checklist item associated with the rule
  6. Affected repository locations where applicable
  7. Affected file-header, generated-file, logging, exception-handling, naming, traceability, or workflow convention
  8. Approval or review status of the rule

Developer Handbook traceability ensures that handbook rules support the Phase 0 Implementation Profile rather than becoming disconnected developer preferences.

The Developer Handbook remains subordinate to Part 4. It provides practical development rules for contributors; it does not redefine the implementation profile or the architecture.
