16.8 Multi-Node Shutdown

Go To Phase 0 Script and Execution Model

Phase 0 may include a multi-node shutdown script or equivalent controlled procedure.

The multi-node shutdown script stops a controlled set of implementation participants and records shutdown behavior according to the logging, status-reporting, and exception-handling baseline.

The shutdown procedure should identify:

  1. Implementation participants to stop
  2. Expected shutdown order or coordination pattern
  3. Status reports expected during shutdown
  4. Logs expected during shutdown
  5. Command acknowledgements expected where control commands initiate shutdown
  6. Cleanup actions performed
  7. Conditions that indicate successful shutdown
  8. Conditions that indicate abnormal shutdown

Shutdown supports observability and later evidence planning. A participant that fails to stop cleanly must report or record that condition according to the Health and Observability, Control Plane, or Audit and Provenance conventions applicable to the failure.
