P2-REQ-16-3-004
Statement
A Logical Node Role SHALL identify a platform-independent responsibility assigned to or performed by a Logical Node.
Source
Part 2, Section 16.3: Logical Node Requirements.
Rationale
Logical Node Roles separate responsibilities from the Logical Nodes that perform them. This separation allows multiple Logical Nodes to perform the same role, a single Logical Node to perform multiple roles, and Domain Logical Profiles to specialize responsibilities without redefining the Logical Node concept.
Applies To
This requirement applies to the definition, review, maintenance, and interpretation of Logical Node Roles.
It applies specifically to:
-
Logical Node Roles;
-
Logical Nodes;
-
Responsibility assignment; and
-
Domain Logical Profiles.
Verification
Verification SHALL confirm that each Logical Node Role identifies a platform-independent responsibility.
Verification activities should include review checks confirming that:
-
Logical Node Roles are explicitly defined;
-
responsibilities are assigned independently of implementation technologies;
-
Logical Nodes perform one or more Logical Node Roles; and
-
Domain Logical Profiles preserve the meaning of inherited Logical Node Roles.
Traceability
This requirement supports traceability between Logical Node Roles and the Logical Nodes that perform them.
