P2-REQ-16-8-005

Logical Compatibility SHALL identify whether logical elements work together without loss of meaning, structure, Traceability, governance, or Evidence expectations.

Part 2, Section 16.8: Logical Governance Requirements.

Logical Compatibility enables independently developed logical elements to interoperate while preserving their intended meaning and governance characteristics. Defining compatibility at the logical level supports architectural evolution without allowing implementation choices to redefine logical semantics.

This requirement applies to Logical Compatibility.

It applies specifically to:

  • Logical definitions;
  • Logical relationships;
  • Domain Logical Profiles;
  • Implementation Profiles; and
  • Logical Governance Model.

Verification SHALL confirm that Logical Compatibility identifies whether logical elements work together without loss of meaning, structure, Traceability, governance, or Evidence expectations.

Verification activities should include review checks confirming that:

  • compatibility criteria are explicitly defined;
  • logical meaning is preserved;
  • governance expectations remain intact; and
  • compatibility remains independent of implementation technologies.

This requirement supports traceability between logically compatible elements and the governance rules that preserve their meaning.
