P2-REQ-16-5-003
Statement
A Logical Data Structure Definition SHALL describe the structure, meaning, and constraints of an information class at the platform-independent logical level.
Source
Part 2, Section 16.5: Logical Information Requirements.
Rationale
Logical Data Structure Definitions establish the platform-independent description of information used throughout the architecture. Separating logical definitions from implementation schemas preserves conceptual meaning while allowing multiple implementation technologies to realize the same logical information structure.
Applies To
This requirement applies to all Logical Data Structure Definitions within the Logical Architecture / PIM.
It applies specifically to:
-
Logical Data Structure Definitions;
-
Logical Information Model;
-
Domain Logical Profiles; and
-
Implementation Profiles.
Verification
Verification SHALL confirm that each Logical Data Structure Definition describes the structure, meaning, and constraints of an information class.
Verification activities should include review checks confirming that:
-
information structures are explicitly defined;
-
semantic meaning is documented;
-
logical constraints are identified; and
-
implementation technologies do not redefine logical information structures.
Traceability
This requirement supports traceability between logical information definitions and the implementation representations that realize them.
