A Deployment Artifact SHALL trace to the implementation artifact it deploys, configures, executes, or exposes.

Part 1, Section 13.7: Traceability Requirements.

Deployment artifacts describe operational realization of implementation artifacts. Traceability from deployment artifacts to implementation artifacts preserves the relationship between executable or operational arrangements and the artifacts they deploy, configure, execute, or expose.

This requirement prevents deployment material from becoming disconnected from implementation realization and architectural intent.

This requirement applies to Deployment Artifacts.

It applies specifically to artifacts that:

• Deploy implementation artifacts
• Configure implementation artifacts
• Execute implementation artifacts
• Expose implementation artifacts
• Describe deployment realization

Verification SHALL confirm that each Deployment Artifact traces to the implementation artifact it deploys, configures, executes, or exposes.

Verification activities include review checks confirming that:

• Deployment artifacts identify the implementation artifacts they affect
• Deployment configurations trace to configured implementation artifacts
• Execution artifacts trace to executed implementation artifacts
• Exposure artifacts trace to exposed implementation artifacts
