P1-REQ-13-7-005

Evidence SHALL trace to the claim, behavior, artifact, configuration, execution condition, review conclusion, or Governance and Authority decision it supports.

Part 1, Section 13.7: Traceability Requirements.

Evidence supports claims, observed behavior, artifacts, configurations, execution conditions, review conclusions, and governance decisions. Traceability from evidence to the supported item allows reviewers and auditors to understand why the evidence exists and what it supports.

This requirement prevents evidence from becoming isolated recorded information without a governed evidentiary purpose.

This requirement applies to Evidence records and evidence references.

It applies specifically to Evidence that supports:

  • Claims
  • Behavior
  • Artifacts
  • Configurations
  • Execution conditions
  • Review conclusions
  • Governance and Authority decisions

Verification SHALL confirm that Evidence traces to the claim, behavior, artifact, configuration, execution condition, review conclusion, or Governance and Authority decision it supports.

Verification activities include review checks confirming that:

  • Evidence identifies the item it supports
  • Evidence links to claims, behaviors, artifacts, configurations, execution conditions, review conclusions, or governance decisions as applicable
  • Evidence records do not stand alone without a supported item
  • Trace links support backward review from Evidence to the supported item
