The Conceptual Architecture SHALL distinguish a Communication Endpoint from the information exchanged through that endpoint.

Part 1, Section 13.4: Core Conceptual Element Requirements.

A Communication Endpoint identifies a point of information exchange. The information exchanged through that endpoint represents the content, payload, message, data structure instance, or governed information flow associated with the exchange.

Distinguishing the endpoint from the exchanged information prevents communication structure from becoming confused with information meaning or content.

This requirement applies to Communication Endpoint references and information exchange descriptions within the Conceptual Architecture.

It applies specifically to:

• Communication Endpoints
• Exchanged information
• Information flows
• Data Structure Instances
• Endpoint-to-information relationships

Verification SHALL confirm that the Conceptual Architecture distinguishes Communication Endpoints from the information exchanged through those endpoints.

Verification activities include review checks confirming that:

• Communication Endpoints identify exchange points
• Exchanged information identifies content or payload
• Endpoint descriptions do not replace information descriptions
• Information descriptions do not replace endpoint descriptions
