Part 1 Concept to Part 2 Logical Element
Discussion
Part 1 Concept to Part 2 Logical Element traceability connects a conceptual element to the logical element that specializes, refines, constrains, or relates it.
This traceability relationship preserves conceptual meaning as the architecture moves from the conceptual layer to the logical layer. It shows how a Part 2 logical element builds on Part 1 without redefining Part 1.
A Logical Node traces to Node. A Logical Node Identity traces to Node Identity. A Logical Node Role traces to Node Role. A Logical Communication Endpoint traces to Communication Endpoint. A Logical Data Structure Definition traces to Data Structure Definition. A Logical Data Structure Instance traces to a Data Structure Instance. A Logical Runtime Plane traces to the Runtime Plane.
Definition
Traceability relationship connecting a Part 1 conceptual element to a Part 2 logical element.
Source
Specialization of Traceability from Part 1, Section 7.10, and the Conceptual Traceability Model from Part 1, Section 10; generalised from traceability material in the original FX Demo Reference Architecture.
Note
Traceability from Part 1 to Part 2 does not require one-to-one correspondence. One conceptual element supports multiple logical elements, and one logical element relates several conceptual elements when the logical design requires that relationship.
Example
A Logical Communication Endpoint traces to the Part 1 concept Communication Endpoint and also relates to Logical Data Structure Definition, Logical Runtime Plane, and Logical Node Role.
