Infrastructure Deployment

Infrastructure Deployment is the controlled process of realizing an Infrastructure Definition within a selected Target Environment.

The process may create, configure, connect, verify, update, and remove compute, storage, networking, identity, security, monitoring, and related infrastructure resources.

Infrastructure Deployment translates provider-independent or provider-neutral intent into the mechanisms supported by the selected Infrastructure Provider.

Within Crucible, a Provider Plugin and associated automation perform the provider-specific operations required to realize the selected Infrastructure Baseline.

Generalized from Infrastructure as Code, cloud provisioning, deployment automation, and systems engineering usage and specialized for the Crucible architecture and operational model.

Infrastructure Deployment differs from infrastructure definition. The definition specifies the intended infrastructure, while the deployment process creates or changes the realized resources.

Infrastructure Deployment may include pre-deployment validation, post-deployment verification, configuration, and teardown activities.

Crucible realizes an Infrastructure Definition by creating virtual networks, compute instances, storage resources, security rules, and a load balancer in an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure environment.
