NOD-008f — Record Node Observations

The DIDO-TE SHALL record each Node observation identified for retention by the governing Test Definition.

Recording Node observations preserves the information acquired through observation of Node state, activity, interactions, timing, and resource use.

The governing Test Definition identifies the observations retained to support reconstruction, analysis, repeatability, Test Results, exception handling, and Evidence. It also identifies the required observation context and retention conditions.

A Node observation record distinguishes the observed condition from an expected, commanded, or reported condition. It identifies the Node, observation source, observed value or occurrence, time, sequence, lifecycle state, Test Environment, and Test Execution relationship.

A summary or conclusion does not replace the underlying observations required for retention. Preserving those observations supports independent evaluation of how the DIDO-TE reached a Test Result or other determination.

Incomplete, altered, inconsistently timed, misattributed, or untraceable observation records prevent reconstruction of Node behavior and weaken the Evidence produced from the observations.

Verification confirms that:

  1. The governing Test Definition identifies each Node observation requiring retention.
  2. The governing Test Definition identifies the context and retention conditions required for each retained observation.
  3. The DIDO-TE records each Node observation identified for retention.
  4. Each Node observation record has a unique identity.
  5. Each Node observation record identifies the observed Node.
  6. Each Node observation record identifies its observation source.
  7. Each Node observation record identifies the observed state, activity, interaction, event, value, condition, timing, or resource use.
  8. Each Node observation record identifies the time and sequence of the observation.
  9. Each Node observation record identifies the Node lifecycle state in which the observation occurred.
  10. Each Node observation record identifies the Test Environment in which the observation occurred.
  11. Each Node observation record identifies the Test Execution associated with the observation or indicates that the observation occurred outside a Test Execution.
  12. Each Node observation record identifies the Node Definition, Node Implementation, and Node Configuration governing the observed Node.
  13. The DIDO-TE distinguishes an observed condition from an expected, commanded, or reported condition.
  14. The DIDO-TE associates each detected difference with the observations and expected conditions used to detect it.
  15. The DIDO-TE preserves the underlying observations required to support a summary, finding, Test Result, or item of Evidence.
  16. The DIDO-TE uses a controlled and consistent time reference for Node observation records.
  17. The DIDO-TE detects a missing, incomplete, duplicated, altered, out-of-sequence, ambiguously timed, misattributed, or unauthorized observation record.
  18. A material correction to a Node observation record produces a distinguishable revision and preserves the prior record.
  19. The DIDO-TE protects Node observation records from unauthorized alteration, disclosure, or deletion.
  20. The DIDO-TE preserves each observation record for the retention period specified by the governing Test Definition.
  21. The DIDO-TE supports reconstruction of the observed Node state, activity, interactions, and resource use from the retained records.
  22. The DIDO-TE maintains Traceability among the Node identity, Node Definition, Node Implementation, Node Configuration, governing Test Definition, observation source, observation record, detected differences, Test Environment, Test Executions, Test Results, and resulting Evidence.
  23. A missing, incomplete, inaccurate, altered, unauthorized, ambiguous, misattributed, prematurely removed, or untraceable Node observation record constitutes nonconformance with this requirement.
