Node Binding

A Node Binding establishes a controlled association between a Node and an identified resource, interface, endpoint, service, communication channel, data source, data destination, or other participant required for the Node’s operation.

A Node Configuration identifies the required Node Bindings and supplies or resolves the information needed to establish them.

A Node Binding identifies the participants in the association and the role each participant performs. It also identifies the applicable protocol, address, topic, port, path, service name, interface, security relationship, Quality of Service policy, or other connection information.

A Node Binding remains distinct from a Configuration Value. A Configuration Value supplies data assigned to a Configuration Parameter. A Node Binding establishes the operational association produced through the use of configuration information.

DIDO Solutions project definition.

A Node Binding includes sufficient information to identify and validate each participant and the relationship established between them.

Binding validation confirms the identity, availability, compatibility, authority, and required characteristics of the participants.

A material change to a binding participant, endpoint, interface, protocol, security relationship, or applicable policy produces a distinguishable binding revision and triggers applicable revalidation.

The association connecting a DDS publishing Node to an identified DDS domain, topic, partition, and Quality of Service profile constitutes a Node Binding.
