MO-009c — Test Resource Applicability
Statement
DIDO-TE SHALL determine and record the applicability of each designated reusable Test Resource to the intended testing context before authorizing its use.
Derived From
MO-009c derives from MO-009 — Reusable Test Resources.
MO-009c specifies the Test Resource applicability portion of MO-009.
Rationale
A reusable Test Resource does not necessarily apply to every test, Candidate Solution, Test Environment, or execution condition.
Differences in purpose, version, interface, format, configuration, platform, dependency, security classification, authorization, and environmental conditions affect whether a Test Resource supports an intended use.
Determining applicability before use prevents DIDO-TE from applying an incompatible, obsolete, unauthorized, or otherwise unsuitable Test Resource. Recording the determination preserves the basis for selecting the resource and supports repeatability, Reproducibility, and Traceability.
MO-009c governs the applicability determination. The companion requirements separately address Test Resource descriptions, control, and use Traceability.
Applies To
MO-009c applies to:
-
Designated reusable Test Resources
-
Intended Test Resource uses
-
Applicable Test Definitions
-
Applicable Candidate Solutions
-
Applicable Test Environments
-
Applicable versions, configurations, interfaces, formats, platforms, and Dependencies
-
Applicable constraints and conditions of use
-
Test Resource applicability determinations
Verification
Verification confirms that:
-
DIDO-TE determines the applicability of each designated reusable Test Resource before authorizing its use
-
The applicability determination identifies the intended use
-
The applicability determination identifies the applicable Test Resource and version
-
The applicability determination identifies the testing context to which the Test Resource applies
-
The applicability determination evaluates the relevant versions, configurations, interfaces, formats, platforms, and Dependencies
-
The applicability determination evaluates applicable constraints and conditions of use
-
The applicability determination records whether the Test Resource is applicable, inapplicable, or conditionally applicable
-
A conditionally applicable determination identifies the conditions governing use
-
An inapplicable determination prevents authorization of the Test Resource for the evaluated use
-
DIDO-TE records the basis for each applicability determination
-
DIDO-TE reassesses applicability when a relevant Test Resource or testing-context characteristic changes

Issues
Confirm the testing-context characteristics that govern Test Resource applicability.
Confirm whether the applicability determination applies to a Test Definition, Candidate Solution, Test Environment, Test Execution, or a defined combination of these concepts.
Confirm the permitted applicability determinations and whether they include applicable, inapplicable, and conditionally applicable.
Confirm the conditions that require DIDO-TE to reassess Test Resource applicability.
Confirm who authorizes a Test Resource after DIDO-TE determines its applicability.
Confirm whether DIDO-TE requires an approved exception before using a conditionally applicable Test Resource.
Confirm the information DIDO-TE records as the basis for an applicability determination.
Confirm that MO-009c remains limited to Test Resource applicability and does not duplicate the description, control, or use Traceability obligations assigned to MO-009a, MO-009b, and MO-009d.
