MO-006a — Application-Independent Testing
Statement
DIDO-TE SHALL preserve Application Independence when testing different application implementations.
Derived From
MO-006a derives from MO-006 — Application-Independent and Infrastructure-Independent Testing.
MO-006a specifies the application-independent portion of MO-006.
Rationale
Application Independence separates the governing test from the design and implementation choices of a particular application.
This separation supports the consistent evaluation and objective comparison of different Candidate Solutions. It also prevents an application-specific assumption from changing the testing intent or favouring one implementation.
Application-specific adaptations remain appropriate when execution requires them. Such adaptations preserve the governing:
-
Evaluated characteristics
-
Evaluation method
-
Evidence obligations
Applies To
MO-006a applies to:
-
DIDO-TE
-
Test Definitions
-
Candidate Solutions
-
Application implementations
-
Application-specific test adaptations
-
Evaluation methods
-
Acceptance Criteria
-
Evidence
-
Traceability
Verification
Verification confirms that:
-
DIDO-TE applies the governing Test Definition to different application implementations
-
The governing testing intent does not depend upon the design or implementation choices of a particular application
-
The evaluated characteristics remain consistent across the tested application implementations
-
The evaluation method remains consistent across the tested application implementations
-
The Acceptance Criteria remain consistent across the tested application implementations
-
Application-specific adaptations preserve the governing Test Definition, evaluated characteristics, evaluation method, Acceptance Criteria, Evidence obligations, and Traceability
-
DIDO-TE identifies and records each application-specific adaptation
-
The recorded Evidence distinguishes application-specific effects from changes to the governing test

Issues
Confirm the controlling source statement and citation from which MO-006a derives.
Confirm which test elements must remain invariant across application implementations.
Define the permitted application-specific adaptations and their approval requirements.
Determine how verification distinguishes an application-specific adaptation from a change to the governing test.
