5.1.5 Changes to Existing Specifications
Each proposal SHALL justify and fully specify any changes or extensions to existing OMG specifications that its adoption requires.
OMG favours proposals that are upwardly compatible with existing standards and that minimize changes and extensions to existing specifications.
