NOD-011d — Verify Preserved Node State

Go to NOD-011 — Preserve Node State

Statement

The DIDO-TE SHALL verify each preserved representation of Node state against the preservation criteria specified by the governing Test Definition.

Derived From

Rationale

Verification determines whether a preserved Node-state representation satisfies the completeness, consistency, integrity, identity, context, compatibility, accessibility, and usability criteria specified by the governing Test Definition.

Verification confirms that the representation contains the required state information and remains associated with the correct Node, preservation point, Node Definition, Node Implementation, Node Configuration, Test Environment, and Test Execution.

Verification also confirms that the representation remains usable for its specified purpose. A representation sufficient for analysis or Evidence may not contain the information required to restore the Node.

Verification occurs after capture and before the DIDO-TE relies on the representation for reconstruction, comparison, restoration, Test Results, or Evidence. The governing Test Definition may also require repeated verification during retention or before a later use.

A representation that fails verification remains distinguishable from a verified representation and does not support a purpose for which it has not been verified.

Applies To

Verification

Verification confirms that:

  1. The governing Test Definition specifies the criteria used to verify each preserved Node-state representation.
  2. The DIDO-TE uniquely identifies the representation subject to verification.
  3. The DIDO-TE verifies that the representation contains each required item of state information.
  4. The DIDO-TE verifies that the representation excludes information prohibited by the governing Test Definition.
  5. The DIDO-TE verifies the completeness of the representation.
  6. The DIDO-TE verifies the internal consistency of the representation.
  7. The DIDO-TE verifies the integrity of the representation.
  8. The DIDO-TE verifies the identity of the Node represented.
  9. The DIDO-TE verifies the preservation point, time, and sequence associated with the representation.
  10. The DIDO-TE verifies the association with the Node Definition, Node Implementation, Node Configuration, Node Bindings, Test Environment, and Test Execution.
  11. The DIDO-TE verifies the compatibility of the representation with each specified use.
  12. The DIDO-TE verifies that the representation remains accessible and usable.
  13. The DIDO-TE verifies the representation after capture.
  14. The DIDO-TE verifies the representation before using it for reconstruction, comparison, restoration, Test Results, or Evidence.
  15. The DIDO-TE repeats verification at each point specified by the governing Test Definition.
  16. The DIDO-TE detects a missing, incomplete, inconsistent, altered, corrupted, misattributed, incompatible, unavailable, or unverifiable representation.
  17. The DIDO-TE assigns a distinguishable verification status to the representation.
  18. The DIDO-TE prevents a representation that fails verification from supporting a purpose for which it has not been verified.
  19. The DIDO-TE records the verification criteria, method, time, findings, status, and supporting Evidence.
  20. The DIDO-TE maintains Traceability among the representation, preservation specification, capture, protections, verification criteria, verification results, Test Executions, Test Results, and resulting Evidence.
  21. Missing, incomplete, incorrect, unauthorized, or untraceable verification constitutes nonconformance with this requirement.
