NOD-008a — Establish Node Observation

The DIDO-TE SHALL establish the observation of each Node identified by the governing Test Definition using the governing Test Procedure.

Establishing Node observation identifies which Node the DIDO-TE observes, which properties and activities it observes, how it obtains observations, and when observation begins and ends.

The governing Test Definition identifies the Node and the states, activities, events, interactions, resource use, timing, and conditions subject to observation. The governing Test Procedure specifies the actions used to establish, perform, interrupt, resume, and end observation.

Observation sources include Node interfaces, lifecycle controls, Node Bindings, logs, events, status reports, resource measurements, Test Resources, and external observation mechanisms. Each source requires an identified relationship to the observed Node and the information it produces.

Observation begins before the Node performs activity material to its participation in the Test Environment. It continues during the lifecycle periods specified by the governing Test Definition.

Observation controls preserve the integrity, availability, timing, sequence, and attribution of observations. Missing, delayed, incorrectly scoped, or misattributed observations may conceal a material change in Node state or activity and may invalidate affected Test Results or Evidence.

Verification confirms that:

1. The governing Test Definition uniquely identifies each Node subject to observation.
2. The governing Test Definition identifies the states, activities, events, interactions, resource use, timing, and conditions subject to observation.
3. The governing Test Procedure specifies the actions used to establish, perform, interrupt, resume, and end Node observation.
4. The DIDO-TE establishes observation for each Node identified by the governing Test Definition.
5. The DIDO-TE uses the observation actions specified by the governing Test Procedure.
6. The DIDO-TE identifies each source used to observe the Node.
7. The DIDO-TE verifies the relationship between each observation source and the observed Node.
8. The DIDO-TE identifies the observation method, frequency, timing, duration, and sequence specified by the governing Test Definition.
9. The DIDO-TE establishes observation before the Node performs activity identified for observation.
10. The DIDO-TE maintains observation during each lifecycle period identified by the governing Test Definition.
11. The DIDO-TE establishes a controlled and consistent time reference for Node observations.
12. The DIDO-TE verifies the availability and readiness of each required observation source.
13. The DIDO-TE detects a missing, unavailable, unready, incorrectly configured, incorrectly associated, or unauthorized observation source.
14. The DIDO-TE detects an interruption, delay, gap, loss, duplication, or incorrect sequence in required observation.
15. The DIDO-TE prevents an observation from being attributed to the wrong Node.
16. The DIDO-TE determines the effect of missing, delayed, interrupted, or unreliable observation on affected Test Executions, Test Results, and Evidence.
17. The DIDO-TE maintains Traceability among the Node, governing Test Definition, governing Test Procedure, observation source, observation controls, Test Environment, Test Executions, Test Results, and resulting Evidence.
18. Missing, delayed, interrupted, incorrectly scoped, unreliable, unauthorized, or untraceable establishment of Node observation constitutes nonconformance with this requirement.
