5.1.6 Minimalism
Minimalism promotes reuse by separating generally applicable functionality and specification elements from the contexts in which they are applied. This separation avoids functional duplication and supports consistent use across multiple architectural contexts.
Requirements
-
GPR-009 — Context-Independent Functional Factoring: The Submission SHALL separate functionality reusable across multiple contexts from functionality specific to an individual context
-
GPR-010 — Separate Specification of Reusable Elements: The Submission SHALL specify reusable Models, Interfaces, and related elements as distinct, independently referenceable specification elements
Notes for Editors
GPR-009 and GPR-010 are mandatory requirements.
GPR-009 governs the separation of functionality that can be reused in different contexts from functionality that applies only within a particular context.
GPR-010 governs how reusable elements are represented in the specification. “Separately” means that each reusable element is distinct and independently referenceable. It does not require a separate document or file for every element.
After the Annex C records are created and reviewed, replace each locally maintained Statement with a transclusion of its authoritative Statement.
