5.1.1 Use of Modeling Languages
Submitters are encouraged to express models using OMG modeling languages such as UML, MOF, CWM, and SPEM, subject to any additional constraints on model types and modeling technologies specified in Section 6 Specific Requirements on Proposals.
Requirements
| Requirement | Level | Statement |
|---|---|---|
| GPR-001 — XMI Representation of OMG-Language Models | Mandatory |
A Submission containing models expressed using an OMG modeling language SHALL include a machine-readable OMG XML Metadata Interchange (XMI) representation of those models. |
| GPR-002 — XMI Representation of Non-OMG-Language Models | Recommended |
A Submitter using a non-OMG modeling language SHOULD make a best effort to include a machine-readable OMG XML Metadata Interchange (XMI) representation of the models. |
Notes for Editors
The requirement identifiers and short titles link to the authoritative requirement records in Annex C.
The Statements displayed in this section are transcluded from their corresponding Annex C requirement pages and are not independently maintained copies.
Make changes to a Statement or its Requirement Level on its Annex C requirement page.
GPR-001 is mandatory because it uses SHALL.
GPR-002 is recommended because it uses SHOULD. Failure to satisfy GPR-002 does not have the same conformance consequence as failure to satisfy GPR-001.
The introductory encouragement to use OMG modeling languages is nonnormative and does not require a separate requirement record.
Before publication, confirm this subsection against the current OMG RFP boilerplate. OMG describes XMI as a means of exchanging MOF-based models, but newer standards such as SysML v2 also provide standardized APIs and services for model access and interchange.
