10.10 Node Documentation Requirements
Return to Node Implementation Pattern
Each Node should have documentation sufficient for a developer, reviewer, tester, or demonstration operator to understand its purpose and behavior.
Node documentation should identify:
-
Node name.
-
Node type or logical role.
-
Purpose in Phase 0.
-
Implementation language.
-
Source location.
-
Configuration file or Configuration source.
-
Published topics.
-
Subscribed topics.
-
Generated types used by the Node.
-
Supported Lifecycle states.
-
Supported commands.
-
Logging behavior.
-
Error-handling expectations.
-
Container image or runtime packaging, where applicable.
-
Tests or acceptance checks that cover the Node.
Node implementation files shall follow the file header and inline documentation conventions defined in Section 7.10. Public Node classes, Lifecycle methods, command handlers, status-reporting functions, Configuration interfaces, and non-obvious runtime behaviors shall include documentation sufficient for a reviewer to understand their purpose, assumptions, inputs, outputs, Lifecycle effects, and error behavior.
The Node Catalogue should summarise the Node-level information for the Phase 0 Baseline. Detailed implementation notes may live near the source code or in Repository documentation, but they should remain consistent with the catalogue and this handbook.
