====== 18.6 IDL and Generated Type Traceability ======

IDL and generated type [[dido:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:t:traceability|traceability]] relates an FX logical information structure to the IDL structure and generated type that realize it.

An IDL and generated type trace must identify:

  - FX logical information structure realized
  - IDL structure name
  - Source IDL file
  - Generated type name
  - Generated output location
  - Generator or generation process
  - Generation context or version
  - Regeneration policy
  - Manual-editing rule
  - DDS Topic or Topics that carry the generated type
  - Producing and consuming implementation participants
  - Runtime Plane classification
  - Review record confirming generation and traceability

IDL and generated type traceability protects repeatability. A reviewer must be able to determine which governed logical information structure led to an IDL structure and which generated artifacts came from that IDL structure.
