P2-REQ-16-2-002
Statement
The Logical Architecture / PIM SHALL define one logical architecture and SHALL NOT imply that it represents every possible logical architecture that conforms to Part 1.
Source
Part 2, Section 16.2: Distributed Node-Based Architecture Requirements.
Rationale
Part 2 defines a single reusable Logical Architecture / PIM for the Financial Systems Archetype. Other logical architectures may also conform to the Part 1 Conceptual Architecture, but they are outside the scope of this document set. Stating this explicitly prevents readers from interpreting the architecture defined in Part 2 as the only permissible logical realization.
Applies To
This requirement applies to the definition, review, interpretation, maintenance, and use of the Logical Architecture / PIM.
It applies specifically to:
-
The scope of the Logical Architecture;
-
Architectural interpretation;
-
Domain Logical Profiles derived from Part 2; and
-
Implementation Profiles based upon Part 2.
Verification
Verification SHALL confirm that Part 2 defines one Logical Architecture / PIM without claiming that it represents every possible logical architecture conforming to Part 1.
Verification activities should include review checks confirming that:
-
only one Logical Architecture is defined within Part 2;
-
alternative logical architectures are not excluded by implication;
-
the document consistently refers to the architecture defined in Part 2; and
-
no normative statements claim exclusivity beyond the scope of this document.
Traceability
This requirement supports traceability between the Part 1 Conceptual Architecture and the Logical Architecture defined by Part 2.
