Conformance Criterion

A Conformance Criterion defines a condition used to determine whether a subject satisfies an applicable conformance requirement.

A criterion translates a normative requirement into an assessable condition without changing the meaning or scope of the requirement.

Conformance criteria support objective and repeatable assessment by identifying the condition against which evidence is evaluated.

In DIDO-TE, conformance criteria provide the assessable basis for determining whether implementations satisfy applicable architectural and operational requirements.

A Conformance Criterion differs from a requirement. A requirement states an obligation. A Conformance Criterion states the condition used to determine whether the obligation has been satisfied.

A criterion should not introduce an obligation that does not exist in the governing requirement.

For a requirement that a DIDO-TE implementation preserve test evidence, the associated conformance criterion identifies the evidence needed to demonstrate that preservation occurred.
