P2-REQ-16-3-002
Statement
A Logical Node SHALL represent a platform-independent participant in the distributed logical architecture.
Source
Part 2, Section 16.3: Logical Node Requirements.
Rationale
The Logical Node is the fundamental participant in the Logical Architecture / PIM. Defining it as platform independent ensures that architectural meaning remains separate from implementation technologies, deployment mechanisms, and runtime environments.
This separation allows different implementations to realize the same Logical Node while preserving common architectural semantics.
Applies To
This requirement applies to the definition, interpretation, review, and implementation mapping of Logical Nodes.
It applies specifically to:
-
Logical Node definitions;
-
Domain Logical Profiles;
-
Implementation Profiles; and
-
Deployment Profiles.
Verification
Verification SHALL confirm that every Logical Node represents a platform-independent participant within the Logical Architecture.
Verification activities should include review checks confirming that:
-
Logical Nodes are defined independently of implementation technology;
-
Logical Nodes represent logical participants;
-
Logical Node definitions remain platform independent; and
-
implementation mappings preserve the logical meaning of each Logical Node.
Traceability
This requirement supports traceability from the conceptual Node defined in Part 1 to the Logical Node defined in Part 2.
