R2a - Financial Data Transparency Act Joint Data Standards Final Rule

FDIS-RA: [R2a]

Office of the Comptroller of the Currency; Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System; Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation; National Credit Union Administration; Consumer Financial Protection Bureau; Federal Housing Finance Agency; Commodity Futures Trading Commission; Securities and Exchange Commission; and United States Department of the Treasury. Financial Data Transparency Act Joint Data Standards. Final joint rule, published 25 June 2026.

This reference provides the current joint data standards established under the Financial Data Transparency Act (FDTA)

The final joint rule postdates the original FDIS-RA draft and serves as the controlling current source for interpreting statements concerning FDTA joint data standards and their implementation.

The final joint rule:

  • Establishes joint data standards intended to promote interoperability of financial regulatory data
  • Takes effect on 1 October 2026
  • Does not itself change existing reporting, recordkeeping, or information-collection obligations
  • Does not apply the standards to particular collections of information without subsequent agency-specific rulemaking or other agency action
  • Preserves agency authority to determine how applicable standards operate within the agency’s statutory jurisdiction
  • Permits tailoring or use of other standards where authorized by the FDTA

Statements in FDIS-RA concerning FDTA implementation, implementation timing, agency obligations, reporting systems, or application of the joint data standards require interpretation in accordance with this final joint rule.
