Platform Specific Information expresses implementation details associated with a particular implementation platform.

Platform Specific Information may identify:

  * Provider products
  * Resource types
  * Service names
  * Interface identifiers
  * Image identifiers
  * Machine types
  * Regions
  * Availability zones
  * Network identifiers
  * Storage classes
  * Runtime versions
  * Package names
  * Platform-specific configuration values

Platform Specific Information may result from transforming, mapping, or parameterizing [[dido:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:p:platform_independent_information|Platform Independent Information]] for a selected [[dido:99_annexes:annex-b-terms-and-definitions:p:provider_implementation|Provider Implementation]].

Platform Specific Information differs from Platform Independent Information:

  * Platform Specific Information identifies how that intent is realized on a selected platform

Platform Specific Information also differs from environment-specific information:

  * Platform Specific Information varies because of the selected implementation platform
  * Environment-specific information varies because of the target operational or development context

The same information may be both platform-specific and environment-specific when its value depends on both the implementation platform and the target environment.

===== Example =====

A platform-independent specification requires a compute resource with defined characteristics for the processor, memory, and availability. Platform Specific Information identifies the provider machine type, region, image identifier, network interface, and storage class used to realize that resource.
