Data
Discussion
Data represents the values, records, messages, events, assertions, observations, commands, decisions, or other information items processed by a financial system.
Data may move through Communication Endpoints, reside in persistence mechanisms, appear in audit records, support analytical processing, or contribute to evidence. Data remains distinct from the structure that governs its form, the semantics that explain its meaning, the interpretation that derives conclusions from it, and the governance that controls its use.
Definition
information values processed, exchanged, stored, observed, or reviewed by a financial system
Source
Informed by SIP-RA separation of data, structure, semantics, and interpretation; adapted for the Financial Systems Archetype conceptual layer and aligned with FX Demo Reference Architecture distinctions between Data Structure Instance, Data in Motion, Data at Rest, Domain Event, Analytical Assertion, and State.
Note
Data is not the same as a Data Structure Definition, a semantic model, an interpretation rule, a governance policy, or an evidence claim.
Example
A populated FX transaction record, cash-flow obligation, validation result, heartbeat message, release decision, or audit event may contain data.
