Baseline Repository

A Baseline Repository is a version-controlled repository that contains the definitions, configuration items, metadata, and related artifacts used to establish or reproduce one or more Baselines.

The repository preserves identifiable revisions of its contents and provides a controlled source from which a build, deployment, assessment, or operational process can retrieve a selected Baseline.

A Baseline Repository may contain machine-image definitions, infrastructure definitions, provisioning content, compliance settings, dependency information, deployment procedures, or related documentation.

Within Crucible, a Crucible Description may reference a Baseline Repository and identify the version used in a Baseline Composition.

A Baseline Repository is not itself a Baseline. The repository may contain multiple revisions, while a Baseline identifies an approved configuration selected from those revisions.

A Baseline Repository may also contain development or proposed content that has not entered an approved Baseline.

A version-controlled repository contains OpenTofu definitions, Ansible content, validation scripts, deployment procedures, and metadata for a Kubernetes Infrastructure Baseline. A Crucible Description pins the repository to the revision approved for a particular deployment.
