NOD-011f — Restore Preserved Node State
Statement
The DIDO-TE SHALL restore a Node from a verified preserved state representation when the governing Test Definition requires restoration.
Derived From
-
[DTE5] DIDO-TE Requirements Register, source requirement identifier and obligation to be assigned
Rationale
Restoration uses a verified preserved state representation to establish a specified state in a Node.
The governing Test Definition identifies the Node, preserved representation, restoration condition, target state, compatibility conditions, required authorization, validation criteria, and permitted subsequent activity. The governing Test Procedure specifies the restoration actions and their sequence.
The target state may reproduce the captured state or establish another state derived from the preserved representation. The DIDO-TE therefore verifies the resulting state against the target state specified by the governing Test Definition rather than assuming that restoration recreates every captured condition.
Restoration may affect Node Configuration, internal data, processing position, pending work, Node Bindings, Dependencies, resource assignments, credentials, and timing information. The Test Procedure coordinates these elements and prevents partial or inconsistent restoration.
Restoration does not establish that the Node is ready for Test Execution. Readiness and validation remain separate determinations performed after restoration when the governing Test Definition requires them.
Applies To
Verification
Verification confirms that:
-
The governing Test Definition identifies the condition that requires restoration.
-
The governing Test Definition uniquely identifies the Node subject to restoration.
-
The governing Test Definition uniquely identifies the preserved state representation used for restoration.
-
The governing Test Definition specifies the target Node state and restoration criteria.
-
The governing Test Procedure specifies the restoration actions and their sequence.
-
The DIDO-TE verifies the integrity, identity, context, compatibility, and restoration status of the preserved representation before restoration.
-
The DIDO-TE prevents use of a representation that has not passed verification for restoration.
-
The DIDO-TE verifies the identity, configuration, lifecycle state, and readiness of the target Node before restoration.
-
The DIDO-TE verifies the required authorization before restoration.
-
The DIDO-TE restores the Node using the governing Test Procedure.
-
The DIDO-TE coordinates restoration of Node Configuration, internal data, processing position, pending work, Node Bindings, Dependencies, resource assignments, credentials, and timing information specified by the governing Test Definition.
-
The DIDO-TE prevents partial or out-of-sequence restoration.
-
The DIDO-TE prevents restoration from unnecessarily affecting unrelated Nodes, resources, Test Environments, or Test Executions.
-
The DIDO-TE observes the actual resulting Node state.
-
The DIDO-TE compares the actual resulting state with the specified target state.
-
The DIDO-TE detects a missing, incomplete, inconsistent, interrupted, incompatible, unsuccessful, unauthorized, or incorrectly targeted restoration.
-
The DIDO-TE prevents the restored Node from performing activity prohibited by its resulting state.
-
The DIDO-TE prevents restoration status from being treated as readiness or validation status.
-
An unsuccessful restoration leaves the Node and affected Test Environment components in known states or identifies their actual states and required corrective action.
-
The DIDO-TE maintains Traceability among the Node, preserved representation, authorization, governing Test Definition, governing Test Procedure, restoration actions, target state, actual resulting state, Test Executions, Test Results, and resulting Evidence.
-
Missing, incomplete, inconsistent, incompatible, unsuccessful, unauthorized, incorrectly targeted, or untraceable restoration constitutes nonconformance with this requirement.
