NOD-002a — Select the Node Definition

The DIDO-TE SHALL select an approved and validated Node Definition for each Node subject to Provisioning.

A Node Definition identifies the role, type, interfaces, Dependencies, resource requirements, lifecycle behaviour, and observations applicable to a Node. Provisioning requires an authoritative definition against which the DIDO-TE selects an implementation, resolves Dependencies, allocates resources, and validates the resulting Node instance.

Selection establishes the exact Node Definition and version governing the provisioning activity. It also confirms that the definition applies to the intended Test Definition and Test Environment.

Selection of an obsolete, incompatible, unapproved, or unvalidated definition undermines the correspondence between the required Node and the provisioned Node instance.

Verification confirms that:

  • The selected Node Definition has a unique identity.
  • The selected Node Definition identifies its version, revision, status, authority, and applicable effective period.
  • The selected Node Definition identifies the Node or Node type to which it applies.
  • The selected Node Definition satisfies the applicable validation requirements.
  • The selected Node Definition has an approved status.
  • The approval remains valid at the time of selection.
  • The selected version remains applicable to the intended provisioning activity.
  • The selected Node Definition remains compatible with the applicable Test Definition.
  • The selected Node Definition remains compatible with the applicable Test Environment.
  • The selected Node Definition identifies the required Node role and Node type.
  • The selected Node Definition identifies the interfaces, Dependencies, resources, lifecycle behaviour, and observations needed for subsequent provisioning and assessment.
  • References contained in the selected Node Definition resolve to identified and applicable artifacts.
  • The selection identifies the criteria used to choose among available Node Definitions.
  • The selection identifies and resolves any applicable version, profile, variant, or jurisdictional constraints.
  • The DIDO-TE rejects an obsolete, superseded, withdrawn, unapproved, unvalidated, incompatible, or unresolved Node Definition.
  • The DIDO-TE prevents a rejected Node Definition from governing Node Provisioning.
  • A material change to the selected Node Definition triggers reassessment of its applicability and validation status.
  • The DIDO-TE records the identity and version of the selected Node Definition.
  • The DIDO-TE records the selection criteria, selection activity, findings, exceptions, and resulting determination.
  • The DIDO-TE maintains Traceability among the Test Definition, selected Node Definition, validation result, approval, provisioning activity, provisioned Node instance, and resulting Evidence.
  • Selection of an unidentified, obsolete, unapproved, unvalidated, incompatible, or untraceable Node Definition constitutes nonconformance with this requirement.

Verification includes:

  • Inspection of the selected Node Definition
  • Inspection of its identity, version, status, authority, effective period, and change history
  • Inspection of its validation result and approval
  • Comparison with the applicable Test Definition and Test Environment
  • Confirmation that referenced artifacts resolve
  • Confirmation that the selected definition identifies the information needed for provisioning
  • A negative assessment involving an unapproved or unvalidated Node Definition
  • A negative assessment involving an obsolete or superseded version
  • A negative assessment involving a definition incompatible with the Test Definition or Test Environment
  • Confirmation that a rejected Node Definition cannot govern provisioning
  • Inspection of selection records, findings, exceptions, Evidence, and Traceability
  • Add links to the architecture sections governing Node Definitions, Test Definitions, Provisioning, validation, approval, configuration control, Evidence, and Traceability.

Assign the applicable delivery phase.
