ENV-004h — Control External Dependencies
Statement
The DIDO-TE SHALL control each external dependency in accordance with the applicable Test Definition.
Derived From
-
[DTE5] DIDO-TE Requirements Register, source requirement identifier and obligation to be assigned
Rationale
A Test Environment may rely on services, systems, data sources, identity providers, repositories, networks, devices, infrastructure, or organisations outside its direct boundary.
A change in an external dependency may alter the behaviour of the Test Object or the resulting Test Results.
The applicable Test Definition identifies each external dependency and specifies its required identity, version, interface, state, response behaviour, availability, and permitted variation.
Control includes isolation, substitution, simulation, replication, version restriction, contractual restriction, or measurement and recording, as specified by the Test Definition.
Applies To
Verification
Verification confirms that:
-
The applicable Test Definition identifies each external dependency that influences the Test Execution.
-
Each external dependency has a unique identity.
-
Each external dependency has a defined provider and boundary.
-
The Test Definition specifies the required version, interface, state, response behaviour, availability, and permitted variation for each external dependency.
-
The DIDO-TE applies the specified control method to each external dependency.
-
The DIDO-TE verifies the state of each external dependency before Test Execution.
-
The DIDO-TE monitors each applicable external dependency during Test Execution.
-
The DIDO-TE detects an unavailable, substituted, altered, incompatible, or unauthorised external dependency.
-
The DIDO-TE records dependency identities, versions, states, interactions, changes, failures, and detected deviations as Evidence.
-
The DIDO-TE maintains Traceability among each external dependency, the Test Definition, the Test Execution, the Evidence, and the Test Results.
-
An unidentified, uncontrolled, unavailable, incompatible, altered, or untraceable external dependency constitutes nonconformance with this requirement.
Verification includes:
-
Inspection of the external dependencies identified by the Test Definition
-
Inspection of dependency identities, providers, boundaries, versions, interfaces, states, and control methods
-
Observation of external dependency control during Test Execution
-
Comparison of required and observed dependency conditions
-
A negative assessment using an unavailable or incompatible external dependency
-
A negative assessment using an unauthorised dependency substitution
-
Confirmation that the DIDO-TE detects and records each deviation
-
Inspection of dependency Evidence and Traceability records
-
Confirmation that each negative assessment produces a nonconformance result
