OR-003b — Unclassified Environment Operations
Statement
Crucible SHALL execute each selected Operational Lifecycle activity within an Unclassified Environment.
Derived From
This requirement derives from:
-
Crucible System Requirements Specification, Version 1.1 Draft, Operational Requirements, OR-003
The Original Requirement states:
The system SHALL support classified and unclassified deployment environments.[C1]
OR-003b isolates the obligation to execute selected Operational Lifecycle activities within an Unclassified Environment from the separate obligation to execute those activities within a Classified Environment.
Rationale
An Unclassified Environment is not authorized to process classified information but can still impose security, privacy, regulatory, contractual, export-control, information-handling, and operational constraints.
OR-003b requires Crucible to execute selected Operational Lifecycle activities within the unclassified operating context rather than treating unclassified operation as unrestricted operation.
Applies To
This requirement applies to:
Verification
Verification confirms that:
-
The tested environment is an Unclassified Environment
-
The selected Operational Lifecycle activities are identified before execution
-
Crucible initiates each selected Operational Lifecycle activity within the Unclassified Environment
-
Crucible completes each selected Operational Lifecycle activity whose initiation and execution conditions are satisfied
-
Crucible records the result of each selected Operational Lifecycle activity
-
Crucible records each selected Operational Lifecycle activity that it rejects, blocks, or terminates
-
Each activity record identifies the Unclassified Environment in which execution occurred

Implementation Status
Assess whether the current Crucible implementation executes the selected Operational Lifecycle activities within an Unclassified Environment.
Requirement Status
Review and approve OR-003b as a leaf requirement derived from OR-003.
Issues
Define the Operational Lifecycle activities that Crucible must execute within each supported Unclassified Environment.
Define the conditions for initiating, completing, rejecting, blocking, or terminating each selected Operational Lifecycle activity.
Define the records and Evidence required for each selected Operational Lifecycle activity.
Define the acceptance criteria for successful execution within each supported Unclassified Environment.
Notes for Editors
This requirement page should retain the stable requirement identifier OR-003b.
This page is a leaf requirement page and omits a trailing :start from its namespace.
OR-003b addresses execution of selected Operational Lifecycle activities within an Unclassified Environment.
Separate child requirements address:
-
Classified Environment operations
-
Security Domain enforcement
-
Information Handling Rule enforcement
-
Cross-Domain Transfer control
-
Security Domain access control
Changes to the Statement should preserve:
-
Crucible as the responsible actor
-
Execution as the required behavior
-
Each selected Operational Lifecycle activity as the subject of execution
-
An Unclassified Environment as the operating context
