4.5.2.3 Access to Intellectual Property Rights
Return to Business Committee Evaluation Criteria
OMG does not adopt a specification if OMG is aware of any submitter, member, or third party that holds a patent, copyright, or other intellectual property right, collectively referred to in this policy statement as Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), that might be infringed by implementation or recommendation of the specification, unless OMG believes that the IPR owner grants an appropriate license to organizations, whether OMG members or not, that wish to make use of the specification.
OMG seeks to make all of its technology available with as few impediments and disincentives to adoption as possible. Therefore, OMG strongly encourages the submission of technologies for which royalty-free licenses are available.
The governing document for all Object Management Group Intellectual Property Rights policies is the Intellectual Property Rights statement, available at https://doc.omg.org/ipr [IPR].
Submitters should consult the Intellectual Property Rights statement for the authoritative statement on submitter patent disclosure and licensing obligations.
