A Submitter using a non-OMG modeling language SHOULD make a best effort to include a machine-readable OMG XML Metadata Interchange (XMI) representation of the models.
Recommended
An XMI representation may improve model accessibility, interchange, comparison, and evaluation even when the original model is expressed using a non-OMG modeling language.
Some non-OMG modeling languages may not have a complete or direct mapping to an XMI-compatible metamodel. The `SHOULD` obligation recognizes this limitation while asking Submitters to make a reasonable effort to provide an interoperable machine-readable representation.
A Submission addressing this recommendation demonstrates that:
This is a recommended requirement. A Submitter may depart from a `SHOULD` provision when a valid reason exists, but the Submission should document that reason and describe any resulting limitations.
This requirement does not imply that every non-OMG modeling language can be represented completely or losslessly using XMI.
